Sometimes while browsing

Riley and I are in an intense competition with Justin and Erin.  It involves flipping furniture. Which means I spend a small chunk of time each day browsing through craigslist.  I usually take pictures of funny ads to show Riley and I realized I've got quite the collection.  So, I present you with my collection. Sometimes people should just recycle their stuff instead of posting it on craigslist. But I guess one man's trash is another's treasure. Amirite?

You read that right, you just go to their house and dig them up!

MOA, Lake Artemesia

Hi there, a while ago we had a completely empty Saturday.  We took advantage of the metro and hopped on, not exactly sure where we would end up.  We thought about going to Union Station, but the red line was closed for the weekend so getting there would involve a lot of walking.  Then we thought about Arlington, but were unprepared, so we ended up at the Museum of Art.  I think Riley and I were both pleased with our choice! It was amazing. Not only was the building amazing but we saw so many beautiful and famous pieces of art... Benson was a champ in the stroller as long as he had a tray full of goldfish!

The inside is like a maze - pretty difficult to navigate 

They have a tunnel that connects the two buildings, it in and of itself is a piece of art.  You stand on a moving walkway and the lights do dances. Not all that different from the walkway after Space Mountain.. Benson LOVED it. I'm not kidding. He cried when we finished. 

We even found a few Jackson Pollock pieces. The one behind Riley is titled "no. 1" 

I guess pictures aren't allowed... But we had to!

Since we moved here we kept seeing signs for "Lake Artemesia" but because of the sky high foliage we were never sure where it was, or if it was cool. After some friends suggested we go check it out, we did.  I told riley to bring the raft- thinking it was a lake. Right?  Wrong. I would describe it as more of a nature preserve with a lovely walking trail.  I guess I should have expected the signs that said, "Danger, no swimming, wading or boating"  Not sure what is dangerous in there and I don't want to find out. 

It really was a beautiful area, lots of lily pads, and cute people.

Orioles, camping and studying

A few weeks ago we headed up to Baltimore for Mormon night with the Orioles! We went early and wandered around Inner Harbor and then met up with Justin and Erin for the game. It was such a fun atmosphere.  Green grass with straight lines :) While we were there I saw Elder Beus! My very good friend Kayla's little brother.  It was so fun to see him and send a picture to Kayla. I think she was a little jealous!

Then, last weekend we went camping! We live in the middle of a national park and a campsite is a short 10 minute drive away. We had dutch oven dinner and a lovely camping breakfast (the best part of camping, right?) Benson ate rocks for the first time.  We cleaned up camp quickly and then sent Justin and Erin to the temple.  Once they were done (4 hours later), riley and I went. Four hours later we ran up to CAFE RIO- because they have one here!- and brought it back for everyone to enjoy. It was so worth the drive, and the painful ride home smelling those wonderful smells.

We are lucky that they live so close and get to do fun things together.  Benson has learned a lot lately. It amazes me.  One day he started crawling. The next he waved. Then next he clapped his hands. The next he cut FIVE new teeth. The next he took a three hour nap. The next he slept 12 hours straight. He's a good kid.

we all scream for ice cream!

For most of the drive to Maryland I promised Benson ice cream cones if he was good.  But we never actually did it... until last week. Riley and I got ice cream and we got Benson his very own cone.  Needless to say he LOVED it. He was a little protective of it.

When he was almost done he just started screaming. Oh it was sad. We think he had brain freeze. Poor guy.
